There are rumours circulating that Fight For Life promoters are trying to get shot put stars Valerie Adams and Nadzeya Ostapchuk to get into the boxing ring later this year. It is difficult to know if this is just an intriguing rumour or if there is some truth to this? There is obviously some intense rivalry between the two shot putters and both women probably could do with the money, then this could be a case of watch this space! What else would Ostapchuk do while serving her one year ban for taking steroids at the Olympic Games? Who would win this Fight for Life? You would think Valerie Adams is younger and has far greater reach, but both of these women are powerful.
I think it could cheapen their sporting rivalry as boxing is a bit of a seedy underworld, but I would definitely watch it!
What do you think of the idea? Would you watch this fight? Who would win? Or is this just pie in the sky?
She may be about to get her long-awaited gold medal, but the Valerie Adams, Nadzeya Ostapchuk saga is far from over.
In fact Adams could be set to take to the ring against her bitter rival, who was yesterday banned for a year after testing positive for an anabolic steroid during the Olympics.
According to Radio Sport Fight for Life organizers are heading to Belarus to convince the shamed shot putter to battle Adams in the ring in December.
And Val Adams is not adverse to taking out her frustrations against the Belarusian with her fists.
"That would be interesting, it would be fun. I'm sure I'd be keen to do it. Why not." The Kiwi shot put star told Radio Sport.
Adams also added that she doesn't believe a word of the recent revelation that Ostapchuk's coach spiked her food, leading to her being stripped of her Olympic gold medal.
